National Nutrition Month

March is National Nutrition Month – yes an entire month dedicated to making better informed food choices, and developing sound eating and fitness habits. Habits that hopefully you will continue with thru-out the rest of your life.

Nowadays, we live in a super-sized microwave happy society and with over 30% of adults in the US being obese it seems that nutrition is something most people struggle with. And food that offers no nutritional value, is another story, for example:
• Vegetables that are “deep fried”
• Cheese that is “imitation”
• Dairy that is injected with hormones and steroids
Yikes!

Here are a few ways to improve your eating habits:
• Avoid oversized portions (21 Day Fix is the perfect tool to help with this)
• Make ½ your plate veggies
• Switch to whole grains
• Vary your protein choices (eat fish at least 2x a week)
• Cut back on sodium

Also you can:
• Join your local CSA
• Join a food coop
• Buy from your local farmers’ market (when open)

Hopefully the changes you make this month will stick. I suggest picking one or two changes and increasing over time. Are you going to implement any of the suggestions above? If so which ones?
