Well, well, well, It’s your girl, Zakia coming at you with all the juicy deets from my birthday soirée at none other than Kashi Sushi & Japanese Restaurant.
Alright, let’s set the scene. Yours truly, another year wiser and more fabulous than ever, was treated to a birthday lunch and joined by the dynamic trio: the fierce aunts Rocky and Rashidah, and of course, our honorary aunt extraordinaire, Paullate. When Paulette joins it’s always going to be an adventure for the ages!!
We hopped on over to Rockville Centre to Kashi Even though it was kinda empty (Sunday Afternoon) I could feel the vibes – that perfect blend of cozy and chic. Trust me, ladies and gents, this place was serving up ambiance like nobody’s business.
Now let’s talk sips. I indulged in a little something-something called Geisha’s Treat, and let me tell you, it was a treat indeed. Sweet, sassy, and just the right amount of mystery – exactly how I like it. Rocky had the same, and I honestly don’t remember what the others had 🙁
And then we kicked things off with a parade of dumplings and sushi appetizers that were all amazing. Seriously everything was good! I honestly could have filled up on appetizers alone. Now, for the main event – the entrées. I went all in for the Steak & Chicken Hibachi with fried rice. Now, let’s keep it real, my loves. The steak could’ve been a tad more tender, but overall, the flavors were poppin’, and I wasn’t about to let a little chewiness rain on my parade. Here’s where it gets interesting – Even though we made it known I had shellfish allergies I had to skip the veggie action due to some potential shellfish cross-contamination (the veggies were cooked at the same time as the scallops and lobster). Safety first,
Drumroll, please, for the dessert highlight – Fried Ice Cream. Hold onto your pearls, because this was a whole new level of sweet satisfaction. Crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside – it was like a dessert symphony in every bite. And the presentation? Don’t even get me started. Cute doesn’t even begin to cover it.
So, the verdict? Kashi Sushi & Japanese Restaurant gets a double thumbs-up and a shimmy of approval from yours truly (and my aunts) Despite that minor steak hiccup, the whole experience was great. Would I hit up Kashi again? In a heartbeat. I can’t wait to go back on a Friday or Saturday night and see what the vibes are like.
Until next time – Smooches and sushi rolls,
xoxo
Zakia
